  • Goodbye to the King!!!

On the morning of June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson collapsed at his rented mansion in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles. He was noted to have had a heart attack by the paramedics who attended him at his house. He was pronounced dead after many resuscitation efforts. Word spread fast throughout social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Yahoo giving them their highest traffic on record.

  • Long Island store owner gets robbed, then gives charity

A Long Island store owner came face-to-face with a bat-wielding assailant screaming, "Give me your money! Give me your money!". He then whipped out a shotgun in self-defense. Unbeknownst to the robber the gun was unloaded.

Sohail said, "Drop the [bat] and get down".

The masked man fell to his knees, clasped his hands and started sobbing, explaining that his family had fallen on hard times saying, 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I have no job. I have no food. My family is hungry,' " Sohail said.

However, in an amazing act of compassion and forgiveness, this bodega owner Mohammad Sohail, also known as "Mo", disarmed the would-be assailant. After the crying thief promised, Sohail went behind the counter, withdrew two $20 bills from the cash register and tossed them to the still-kneeling man.

The man then stunned Sohail by saying, "You are a good man. I want to be a Muslim like you."
Sohail told him to stand up and raise his hand. The robber did and repeated after Sohail a Muslim profession of faith. Sohail congratulated him.

The shopkeeper then turned around to fetch some milk for the thief. But by the time he returned, the man had fled -- with his bat.

There's a lesson to be learned in this though! It says something about how a simple act of good faith can change a person and turn a potential dangerous event into a peaceful one.

Why can't our leaders take the same stance?

    What are your thoughts?

  • Tensions re-vamped

The US and South Korea have raised their alert last Thursday the 21st to the highest level since '06 after N. Korea renounced its peace with the allied forces. They threatened to strike any ships trying to intercept its vessels. This action is seen as a sign of tensions following N. Korea's underground nuclear test and its launching of a series of missiles earlier this week.

The response was S. Korea aligning 90 countries to band together to inspect vessels that may are suspected as having banned weapons. N. Korea has basically threatened to go to war with any country that tries to get in there way. This is also looked at as a test to Obama's strength.

    Whatever the case!

How do we get past this? What does it take to move from this? How do we Encourage world harmony and peace and Discourage the need to create more advance weaponry?

Well lets start with us! Lets start with what's inside us! Then lets move to our close ones, our community, and then the world. People are out of jobs and depression is on a high.

What do we do? Lets start with ENCOURAGING positive change. Lets start with working together!

Lets start with using our individual passions and gifts to bring about about peace.

    Lets start with LOVE!

  • O.C in Somalia

Al-Qaida-linked Somali Islamic insurgents and hundreds of foreigners are battling together against government forces in Somalia, which have killed more than 100 people, said the UN. There is a growing concern that the government might fall.

How is this war increasing food scarcity and poverty? Glad you asked!

The government only controls one major road in the capital of Mogadishu along with some government minor installations, with the assistance of over 4,000 African Union troops.

During a lull Friday, people were running out of their homes looking for food and/or safer quarters. The few who have remained to look after houses scurry around the streets during the quiet moments of the fighting searching for food. They fighting is said to be more intense than when the Ethiopians, who supporting the government, invaded in 2006.

However, the European Union has a naval deployment, aimed at countering Somali piracy and protecting U.N. food shipments to Somalia. Lets just hope that more efforts, can be made to help Somalians eat and find shelter. It should happen Worldwide!!!!

  • SWINE FLU or NOT

Do I have the SWINE FLU? That seems to be the question that people around the US are asking themselves the moment they experience a cough, sniffle or body ache.
Though the swine flu is created in a lab, it can be tough to know if you really have it because influenza and swine flu have similar symptoms. Or not?

Infectious disease expert Dr. Dan Hinthorn, director of the division of infectious disease at the University of Kansas believes there are distinguishable differences. Influenza typically, is a respiratory sickness with sore throat, fever, nasal stuffiness, headache, cough, and body aches are real common. You go to bed and feel terrible. Some of the people who have had swine flu have diarrhea or vomiting.

In the United States, every case so far has been mild. However, people with underlying medical conditions like diabetes, cancer or heart issues should check with their doctor when they develop flu symptoms, especially, young children and senior citizens. You might be stopping something that may be going around in your community.

Remember, whether it’s swine flu or another type of flu doesn’t really matter. If you are getting worse instead of getting better, you need to go to the doctor.
